Some friends and I get together once a month for dinner. This month it was the Central Table Food Hall. I was excited to try it; the menu and reviews seemed really interesting. I loved the interior of this spot; modern and clean, very different from a lot of places. It somehow manages not to be too "cold" even though it is definitely minimalist. I am not sure how it works at lunch (I believe there is a coffee bar?) but at dinner we were seated at a rather large table for our group of 6. I started off with a glass of red wine; I went for La Mozza at $8 a glass. I was impressed with the amount of wine I got for that price. I was served the glass and then a small carafe that was filled. It gave me at least 1 and a half glasses of wine, which was great. The La Mozza was a good choice; I really like red wine but I am by no means very knowledgeable. Most of the time I go for something middle-of-the-road in terms of price and hope I like it. This was a great surprise because it was smooth and really drinkable. I would definitely order it again. I had read that their cocktails were pricey, so again I was pleased with the amount I received for this price. Part of our group was running late, but our server somehow managed the fine line of attending to part of the group without seeming too pushy to get us to order. The owner (I think?) brought us a really good bread with tomatoes while we were waiting as well. Eventually the 4 of us waiting ordered salads. I went for the kale based on the recommendations. Plus, it has goat cheese which is always a plus. I thought it was good, not great. Kale is a tough green--literally. Even with the lemony vinaigrette it was still chewy and I would prefer something else, or maybe half kale and half something slightly softer/less bitter. I also felt that there could be more goat cheese but isn't that always the case? My friend and I decided to split two main entrees to get the best of both words. For the sushi we went with the Papasan, which was a popular choice at our table. It was definitely good and had a nice balance of spicy and sweet. However, I didn't feel like it was a stand-out sushi. I was expecting a lot, only because they've been voted Best Sushi by the RFT. It was definitely good but not up to the likes of Tani or Wasabi in my opinion, where I am licking the plate afterwards. For pizza, we ordered one that isn't listed on the menu online. It had prosciutto and pecorino on it. I really liked the crust of their pizza a lot. The toppings were slightly salty (and this is coming from a girl who adds salt to EVERYTHING) and I took about half the meat off to tone it down a little, while still piling on the crushed red pepper. The veggie pizza was also present on our table--I didn't try any but it looked really good. Overall I think this place has a great atmosphere, great service, and good food. I think you could come here five different times and have completely different experiences based on the directions you could take with their menu. I am intrigued by their pasta selections and would definitely go back again. I struggle a little bit to find the connection between Italian and sushi, but anywhere I can get some decent variety I am a fan of!

Let me first start by stating this is a SOFT OPENING review. I know they are still ironing out kinks. Came here to training dinner with high hopes and expectations. Foie Gras and Bone Marrow were both out of stock and unavailable for us to try. We ordered 1. Sweetbreads - These were ok. Frankly, you can deep fry anything and they'll taste pretty good. Came "Buffalo" style. Would rather have decent Buffalo Wings. I don't think the sweetbreads themself were enhanced in any way by the cooking technique. Batter could have been more crisp. Buffalo sauce needed more acid. 2. Octopus - Am really confused at all the positive reviews of this dish on Yelp. The waiter said the Octopus was braised for 5 hours. That explains the sodden texture. If I'm eating grilled octopus I want a chewy texture, grill flavors, and some acid to cut through. I got none of these. Was really disappointed by this disrespectful handling of a fine ingredient. I hope the chef doesn't feel that this is how you have to present octopus to Mid-westerners. The lack of acid seems to be a common theme throughout the meal. 3. Nigiri - Had Tuna, Albacore, Yellowtail, Freshwater Eel, Sea Urchin and Scallop. These ranged from ok to below average. The fish itself was ok. The rice was pretty awful. Way too much sugar and not enough vinegar. Also tasted a bit old/dry. The spicy tuna roll suffered from the same flavor imbalance. A shame, as better sushi rice could have elevated the Nigiri to an acceptable level. Saint Louis isn't a sushi hotspot, but you can do much much better. 4. Pizza - Tried the Diavolo pizza. Probably the best thing we had here tonight. A bit salty but a passable take on Neapolitan style PIzza. Service was fine. Waiter had good intentions. The space is cool.

i was here with some friends for dinner during their soft opening so we had the chance to try a little bit of everything. the place has great ambiance and the menu is very diverse (pizza, sushi, steak, octopus.. etc). it seems to be focused on local/fresh ingredients, however, some items feel a bit too forced-gourmet. if you're trying to be fancy shmancy at least serve the cheese board with a cheese knife. now the bread was soaked in olive oil, the pizza and sushi were average, but i did love the stuffed pepper appetizer and the rabbit tortellini. i'm curious to try their lunch menu. central table is an interesting concept-offering to go meals, a mini market and sit down dinning.

I really wanted to love this place, since it's basically next door to me and attached to where I work. I got to go try the menu during the soft opening, so I didn't too harshly of the occasional kinks with service. In terms of the food, things ranged from atrocious to excellent. Some of the stand out items were the bone marrow and octopus. The oysters we ordered were pretty good, you could choose specific locations from each coast that you wanted to try oysters from. It's pretty hard to mess up raw oysters though. The diavolo (sausage and tomato) pizza, sushi, and rabbit tortellini were all decent... definitely not anything to write home about. The NY strip was definitely interesting, it came pre-cut up mixed in with potatoes and truffles. It tasted ok, but seriously who gives you a pre-sliced steak? The striped-bass lacked much seasoning and was kind of a bland mess. Now to the awful.... the desserts. Seriously dessert is my favorite part of a meal, so I actually leave with a bad taste in my mouth (yeah that was a pun) when it's particularly bad. The desserts were really just trying way too hard to cater to a "sophisticated" palate, and they just ended up tasting gross. The almond cake with cucumber gelee and yogurt was nasty, we couldn't even finish it. The flavor combination was overwhelmingly salty with a slight hint of sweetness and cucumber... now doesn't that sound amazing for a dessert? Yeah I didn't think so. The chocolate dessert with some type of berry sorbet and freeze dried olives was better, but still not very good. Maybe my palate just isn't sophisticated enough, but overwhelmingly salty things in a dessert like freeze dried olives or salty yogurt just make it unappealing. Definitely skip dessert at this place, if you like traditional desserts. Service was as expected during the first night. Occasional awkward referencing of notes and some delays with food and service, but overall everyone was pleasant enough to make up for any shortcomings. Clearly everyone was trying hard to make things run as smoothly as possible. The owners were very attentive and apologetic for any delays. The wine and beer menu is extensive, so no worries there. Lastly, during the days the place will offer upscale quick take-out items. I haven't tried any or even seen what they will offer, so I can't really say much about that. Honestly I want this place to succeed enough that I will likely be back soon. I think there is a lot of potential in the menu with some tweaks... like oh I don't know a dessert that is not overly complicated or ambitious. I think this place is definitely worth a shot once all the kinks get worked out though.

This place is my new fixation. I've been here twice for lunch within the past month. The Chicken Pita is delish...fresh, flavorful, light and filling all at the same time. From what I understand the chew, warm pitas are handmade at the restaurant and they totally make the dish. Though to be fair I'm completely in love with everything else on the plate (cucumber and mint salad, light and tartly dressed romaine with radishes and a delectable tsaziki sauce. Now for the weird stuff...there's always weird stuff right? 1) I don't like having to go to the central bar to get my iced tea and refill it myself. Very annoying and disruptive to the flow of my lunch. 2) This place is not open for lunch on the weekends. Why the heck not? There's plenty enough of a crowd on Saturdays so I totally vote for it. 3) They need more seating. Seriously two booths? There's always some jerk hogging the booth with his laptop and work. Speaking of seating I don't love the metal chairs that are left for the rest of us. Definitely an uber masculine design. But yes, I like this place and would go back.

I have now been to central table twice and loved it each time. The food is fantastic, which is even more impressive when you notice the variety on the menu. How many places can you go where one person can enjoy some fantastic sushi, another can enjoy a perfectly cooked steak, and a third person can chow down on some delicious pizza? This variety combined with the warm open environment makes Central Table a perfect place for a weekend outing with a group of diverse friends. I also want to compliment the service staff. Although it has only been twice, I have gotten excellent service here each time. The only thing that holds them back from a 5/5 would be the drink prices. The drinks are as pricey as Taste/Libertine but lacking just slightly in quality when compared to the same. Overall, I highly recommend Central Table.

We visited last night for one of the half price soft opening/ training dinners (such a fantastic idea-- I wish more restaurants would do this). Wow--do they offer amazingly friendly service. The hostess acted so happy to see us and seemed thrilled to show us to our table. It's nice to feel like the staff is genuinely glad you're there. Our server was also very nice and the servers' assistants were totally on top of clearing plates and filling drinks. Now, for the food. We started off with the caesar salad and the smoked trout. The caesar was quite fresh and lemony, but not too out-of-the-ordinary. If you like plain lettuce with a tasty home-made dressing, then you'll like it. The smoked trout was pretty good. I especially liked the sweet pickled veggies they paired with it. Then we tried the buffalo style sweetbreads. As other reviewers have noted, these were kind of... an odd choice. The Franks hot sauce was good (of course), but I would have preferred it with the usual chicken; it felt wasted on the deep fried sweetbreads. Also, for some reasons the thin blue cheese dressing was very foamy, and thus gave an unappetizing look to the dish overall. I'd try a different style sweetbread dish of theirs if they put it on the menu. We then tried the gnocchi with bacon, clams, and tomato, which was very, very fresh. The flavors worked well together, (though it was light on the clams and heavy on the bacon). Then, finally we got the margarita pizza, which had a nice, chewy crust. We liked it, but probably wouldn't go back for it. I want to see what their full menu looks like... I will be watching this place.

First impression: The space is very large, open and contemporary. It's a wonderful space and there's so much room that you aren't unwantingly eavesdropping on the conversations around you. Central Table does it hall...it's a coffee place in the morning, casual, but high-quality lunch during the day and in the evening, it can be a great get-together with some friends or a clasy date place. The servers are the nicest people I have ever been served by, hands down. Every single waiter I walked by as I left said: "Thank you so much and have a wonderful evening!" with such genuineness and thoughtfulness. Don't mind the mildly-fishy smell as you walk in the door...it's the smell of good quality sushi. Upon being seated for dinner, the manager on duty walked by and placed a glass of champagne on the table for both of us...just because. How awesome. And the food was fantastic. I had the Margherita Pizza and a simple salad with mixed greens, parmeggiano and a delicius light dressing. The wine selection is delicious. The peanut butter pretzel gelato is definitely worth trying for dessert! I live right across the street from Central Table and I will definitely become a regular very soon! Love this place. Welcome to the Central West End!!

I was expecting a bit more from this restaurant. While I would eat there again, for the price, I wasn't overly impressed. The kale salad was raved about, so I had to try it. It lacked in flavor and let something to be desired. As for the sushi, it was decent, but I certainly wouldn't go there just for that. The pizzas were pretty good. I had the veggie pizza and it had goat cheese and sun-dried tomatoes on it, which were pretty yummy. I would recommend others to try it, but I wouldn't say it is a 'go-to' sushi place. The wine selection was pretty good and I was happy to see that they had a Rose on the menu, as many other places in the area don't.

beautiful space! no cocktail list...bartender seemed overwhelmed excellent octopus appetizer. $15 : 4 bites but delicious! the bone marrow was seriously (bloody pink) undercooked. we were to continue with more food, but our enthusiasm dissipated after the appetizers and decided to end it there. I don't think we will be going back. great if you care about a trendy ambiance and don't mind mediocre food

I wish there was an option for ZERO stars. I went there for lunch and had a horrible experience. Unfortunately after a 25min wait for MR burger, I approached the counter and was told the "system" was down and my order was lost. I understand this can happen, but was slightly annoyed by the fact that the rest of my party was already halfway through their burgers. After another 25 min, still no burger. At this point the rest of my party was completely done eating and my burger was still nowhere in site. I asked to speak with a manger so I could be refunded for my lunch, since I never received it. The manager took my card and ten minutes later returned with cash. He then started to walk away, which honestly stunned me because I'm in customer service and was shocked when an apology wasn't even offered. I wasn't expecting anything, but an apology would have been nice. Again, I understand things can happen and we are all human, but I feel like my patience with the situation was completely taken advantage of and I will not return to a place that doesn't take care of it's patrons. I ended up at a fast food drive-thru and the service there was 100% better than the service I received at Central Table. IF you decide to eat there, I suggest going with the server option, as opposed to the self-serve, as hopefully you will actually receive service!!

Went for a late lunch one day. We split a turkey club and the cheeseburger. Both were wonderful and prepared well. I do not like how you have to go up to each individual area to order and pay, it felt disjointed and made the very tasty food lose some style points because of that aspect. I have not had dinner there but heard very good things. I will not return since i no longer live in STL but would if i could since the food is very very good.

Love this place on a Friday night after work, the bar is plenty big and I can always find a seat to enjoy a great glass of wine! Check out the sushi bar, they always have daily specials. The menu offers a wide range, from chicken, pasta, and even pizza. Great neighborhood restaurant to meet your friends for drinks and dinner!

OK, just OK. I had the pizza, reminded me of the kind you might get at Grimaldis in nyc (real brick oven, fresh ingredients), but not very good. I didn't have a terrible experience, but just not a place i could recommend to get italian.

Tried this place last night and I'm definitely a fan! The atmosphere was perfect. Not uppity but not too casual either and I loved the high ceilings and sleek silver decor. The food was great (we tried a veggie pizza and scallop roll) and the stuffed peppers literally rocked my world! We ordered a bottle of wine (a red blend, for $26) that was REALLY good but there were tons of choices (some definitely more expensive than ours) Our server was very friendly and attentive. He made suggestions and answered our many questions. Overall a great experience. I'll definitely be back!

I was there for dinner with a friend on Monday night. Getting a table reservation was easy. What impressed me was the service, my friend and I enjoyed were having a great conversation and we kept putting off looking at the menu. The attentive waitress very politely asked us a few times whether we needed anything (we haven't ordered anything at this point). She felt apologetic for "interrupting" us a few times and after we ordered she brought us a free appetizer! We got the octopus appetizer which was extremely tender! The cheese and salume board was ok, portions were very small for the price. We got the Gooseberry and Lamb pizza which was an absolutely delicious combination of sweet and savory. We also got the Poulet Rouge which was very well seasoned and scrumptious! Definitely a keeper and I'll be back again for more.

We went on a Saturday night. There were only a few other people. I am completely perplexed. May be it's busier during the day?? This place has great atmosphere, some of the best service I have had in a long time. I have no idea who he was, but the live entertainment was amazing. He had a great voice and a great repertoire. I had a burger. It was really tasty, cooked well, seasoned well. It came with a side of cajun "fries". These I didn't love. They were potato wedges that I am fairly sure were baked and then seasoned, so they had an abundance of dry seasoning on them. I would have preferred actual fries. We also got a margherita pizza. That was super tasty as well. The valet parking was $3 and there is a self parking garage directly behind the restaurant.

The ambiance and service were nice, but the place was EMPTY on a Saturday night with nice weather. I think it's the food/prices... I wasn't super impressed with anything - we ordered 3 appetizers, a wide range of entrees, and 2 desserts. The portions were small for the prices, my husband's tortellini were cold, my ramen wasn't made with ramen noodles (???) and the "pork belly" was more like undercooked bacon. My friends had fun and tasty cocktails, and their beer list was decent. I had wine! We should have stuck with drinks and appetizers and gone elsewhere for dinner. I have a hard time trusting places that serve so many different dishes- pizza, sushi, Italian pasta dishes? They should find an area to focus on and be the best, not be middling on so many things.

I have never been truly impressed by this place. It's close enough to the hospital that quite a few of us will come for happy hour because the drinks are relatively cheap, but the food leaves much to be desired. The ambiance and style seems to be what we're paying for as opposed to substance and quality; dressing up a plate of 8 dollar sushi does not in fact make it taste better. When they first opened I came her for lunch and tried their mac and cheese which again, was mediocre with limited seasoning and flavor. More recently I've given their shishito peppers a chance which are really good, but also don't make a meal! They used to have a pita and spread at happy hour that was also pretty good but again, not enough food. Perhaps I should try some of their other offerings but at the price I would much rather go across the street or down the street for quality food that's worth the price.

$22 for a small piece of fried cod. It tasted great, but it was cod. No side dishes, no condiments, a couple pickles and some mustard smeared on the (slate?) plate....and it was COD. Moscow mule was watered down, hardly any alcohol. Best part was the guy in the corner singing Michael Jackson songs. Nice restroom! Won't return

I ordered a chicken philly that was delicious. Unfortunately, my wife was not as fortunate. She ordered the garlic chicken pizza which had no garlic flavor and tough dry chicken. Good reasonably priced local beer. 5 stars for my sandwich. 1 star for the puzza. Aversged 3 stars

I met a girlfriend for lunch. You order at the cashier. She got an arugula salad with the dressing on the side. I got fish tacos. She really liked her salad, and there was a lot of edamame in the salad. The walnut salad dressing, she used sparingly. The corn tortillas on the fish tacos (2) were wilty, wet and tasteless. The contents of the tacos were quite fine: nice crispy fish, tasty slaw and radish. There were some chips on my plate, and they were OK. The dipping sauce, for either the tacos or the chips, was way too spicy.

I really have nothing good to say. My salad was just ok. The sushi was good but my mother and sisters dishes were not very good. Dried pulled pork on tacos and such.

This was our second visit to Central Table, both times with the D's. This time we were accompanied by Aunt Susan who happened to be in town. We again had a very good meal and overall experience. There is valet parking out front for a mere $4. We took three bottles of wine (only opened two) and corkage is $15. They provided a new glass for each bottle, which is nice. I had understood from a couple of sources that they have good sushi. I ordered three orders of nigiri; tuna, yellowtail and scallops to share with Aunt Susan. Each order is two pieces. I am not qualified to judge sushi, but I would certainly do this again. The yellowtail in particular was excellent. Ms T likes her sushi better if it is chicken and if it is cooked. The D's shared a Spicy Tuna roll and appeared to enjoy it. The D's each ordered and really enjoyed the Butternut Squash Ravioli. Ms T and Aunt Susan both had a Grouper Special of the evening and raved about it. I chose the Pappardelle Bolognese. This was excellent. I remembered it from the previous visit when another person in our group had it. The pasta was cooked perfectly and the sauce is flavorful and hearty without being heavy. This was a very nice evening of good food and service. Central Table remains on my list of places to return to. My experiences have been better than the average three star rating.

Service, ambiance and live music were all stellar. Menu was varied and there was a good selection of cocktails, beer and wine. For the price, the portions - or maybe just the polish in presentation - could've been better. I really enjoyed my sushi and calamari. Would recommend and would visit again, at least once.

I came here for dinner on a Wednesday night and the place was deserted. It's a huge hall, so even if half the tables were full it would probably look empty, but there were only 3 tables on the night that I dined. Anyway, our waiter and service was fine and the food came out promptly which was nice. I will say, I went with the margarita pizza for dinner and was really disappointed. It was thin crust as margarita should be, but the entire pizza was so soggy and didn't really have a great taste. I'm not sure how you can mess up a margarita pizza but it just wasn't good. I would assume they use similar crusts on all the pizza, so I'd recommend to avoid the pizzas if you don't want a soggy pizza. The overall restaurant was decorated well and they are going for a little big of a classier restaurant (probably a lot of doctors/hospital staff eating here during the day).

The specialty rolls are too good to be called special and they are not shy on giving you plenty to eat. Sushi fans should start here and return often. The Clover was surprisingly delicious with the jalapeño extra zing.

Went back for happy hour, awesome again. We went at the same time, 4:30ish, and it was nice and quiet. The kitchen was really nice and allowed us to order off the dinner menu even though they don't start serving until 5pm.John was our bartender, he was great and really attentive. They must really put an emphasis on service here, because I noticed them having team meetings and coordinating things as we were relaxing. The hostess was really nice too and told us that they validate for the parking garage off of forest park and euclid after 5pm. FYI, Valet starts at 5pm, Friday-Sunday.

I went to Central Table today for the first time with a friend for lunch. I have never heard of it and didn't know what to expect and was pleasantly surprised. When I entered, I felt like I walked into an upscale cafeteria for the cool kids. The layout is very clean, simple, and open. You go to the cashier and order what strikes your fancy. They offer a variety of burgers, pizzas, salads, and soup. I went for a pepperoni pizza (not your everyday pep -- enhanced with spices and finesse) and caesar salad. The pizza was DELICIOUS. Wood-fired and a generous serving, it was amazing. I was full and saved half for dinner (which I was looking forward to all day). The salad was OK. Not enough dressing and not really much flavor. I nabbed a few french fries off my friends plate and those were amazing...crispy, hot, and fresh. I look forward to going back and trying more off their menu! I would recommend you try!

I had dinner here a couple weeks ago w/my S.O. and it was excellent! I had the Diavolo pizza which comes with: spicy tomatoes, roasted garlic, heritage pork sausage, mozzarella. This pizza was unique and delicious. The crust was thin but perfectly fluffy/doughy and was made with amazingly fresh ingredients. You could tell it was right out of the brick oven! The sauce and cheese lightly sat on the top of the pizza. I ate some of it with a fork and knife just so it didn't slide onto my chin. The sauce was amazing! It was quite spicy, for pizza, but this made it quite addicting. They also had fresh chunks of tomatoes in it...soooo good. The pork sausage, cheese, and roasted garlic all meshed perfectly with this doughy creation. My counterpart had sushi which I sampled. I don't remember which roll it was but it had salmon in it and it was one of the most supple sushi rolls I have ever bitten into. It was sooo good. I like sushi, but I rarely am ever in the mood for a whole meal of it. Usually I just wan a few bites. However, this sushi was sooo good, I might consider changing my mind. RFT gave them best sushi for 2013 and now I understand why. If you haven't been, Central Table is a large space and has a pretty diverse menu. I highly recommend checking it out for breakfast, lunch, or dinner. They have a pretty cool bar area, too. And how many places serve sushi AND pizza? Sounds like a good deal to me.

I have been here for two brunches so far, so I'm commenting on that menu only. It's table service for brunchtime: Breakfast Pizza - 4.5/5 (very large, could have been shared among more than one person) Brioche Toast w/ butter and preserves - 5/5 (soooo good) Side of Bacon - 5/5 (extra thick and super tasty, some of the best I've ever had) Mimosa - 4/5 (pretty tasty but $7 is high for me) Service - 3/5 (we were served, our orders were correct, nothing special) Food was EXCELLENT, would have hoped service was up to the same level as the food to warrant the slightly higher prices. I do, however, want to come back and try so many things - sushi, burgers and sandwiches, desserts.

I really want to give Central Table a stunning 5 star review because the service I had last week was outstanding. Not only was my service outstanding--I could see the few people around me were getting the same Grade A service I was getting. I also want to say I have heard rave reviews about Central Table's brunch selection. One friend said their breakfast pizza is stuff of hangover-cure legend. When Alive magazine gave them the A-List award for best, "Crowd-Pleasing" menu, I was all in. I went there on July 5th. Yes, of this year. When it was beautiful out. While everyone was getting ready for round 2 of fireworks, my husband, friends, and I decided to head indoors for some dinner. The place was empty. I always feel the rush of blush cover my face when I go into an empty restaurant and say, "I have a reservation." I don't know why, but it's like going to a party and realizing you are the only guest who showed up. Now this could very well be because most St. Louisians were out doing more season-appropriate things. Whatever the case, we were empty nesters. After we got over the sound of hearing our own echo, we order from their vast menu. Now, as foodie law states, if a menu is too diverse it is usually a sign of trouble. I hate that rule. I want to be able to go to a place--be adventurous and order the bone marrow and have my dinner guests be able to order a burger or pizza. Welp, throw in a sushi and pasta menu and that is exactly what you can get at Central Table. Unfortunately, there really wasn't anything wowing about the menu. The fact that the place is on the pricey side only made the blandness of the foodmore noticeable. I will say the toast that came with the bone marrow was amazing. It was the first time I ordered it and had no idea how to eat it. Our waitress was so nice and helpful. Overall, I will definitely return for brunch and give another shot at dinner as well.

This place makes me feel like I am in high school again. If you stop by for Iunch, it has a very upscale cafeteria feel to it. Dinner here is a slightly different vibe. The place is decorated in a sleek, contemporary style. The unfinished ceiling and visible pipes make me feel as if I am in a warehouse. ( I know it sounds strange, but it's much prettier than I am able to describe. just check out some of the photos!) A group of us stopped by for an early dinner. Our server brought out a plate of focaccia with saluted tomatoes and Parmesan while we looked over the menu. A great start to our evening. Most of us ordered either pizza or sushi. Our server was extremely sweet and helped quite a bit with the explanations and gave us some amazing suggestions. I ordered and highly recommend the spicy scallop maki. Never had anything quite like it before. the sushi had just a little bit of a kick, nothing over powering, which really elevated my dish to a whole new level. Also, I can't believe I am saying this, but I loved their wasabi. I asked our server to figure out if they added anything to it, but she told me it was just the same stuff they serve everywhere. I disagree - it was so much better. Maybe it's just the raw scallops talking, but there was a slight sweetness to it. Kind of reminded me of honey? Okay, now I have clearly had way too much raw fish... Anyway, I really recommend this place if you have picky eaters in the group. I'm sure everybody can find something they'll love.

Probably one of the worst service restaurants I've ever been to. First off, we got there at 8:55 and the outside sign stated that happy hour was from 9-11 and they had half off certain appetizers. So we thought let's wait 5 minutes and get something off that menu. The waiter says that they can't do anything from the happy hour menu because it's not in effect yet. And they said that their kitchen closes at 9. He said we could order of the dinner menu so we did. I ordered something and asked if there was beef in it after I got it. The manager said there was none and that it was made from pork. I had a bite of it and my suspicion was true, it was beef (which the chef confirmed). The most disappointing thing of this was the fact that the manager did not come out to apologize or say anything for his mistake. Overall it was a very poor experience and I would not recommend for anyone to go here.

We went to Central Table Friday evening and decided to try the sushi. After living in San Diego for almost ten years and having some of the best and freshest sushi I never have great expectations for St. Louis sushi. My wife had the albacore and I had half a dozen oysters. We also ordered the Forest Park roll and the Spicy scallop roll. The oysters were great. Definitely go with the west coast oysters. They are bigger, more plump, and tastier. My wife's albacore was melt in your mouth good. The rolls were just as tasty. The Forest Park roll was absolutely wonderful. The service was good and they serve Six Row beer. I'm trying to expand my beer choices so I tried the whale ale which was very good. Everything was good except the bill. It was pricy for how much food you get. Overall, it was a good meal and we would probably go back for that Forest Park roll.

A few months ago I walked into Central Table and saw a sign on the door that proudly proclaimed "RFT Best Sushi in St Louis!" PFFFFFT! Yeah right, I thought. We tried the sushi and guess what? It really is the best sushi in St. Louis. Their pizzas are great, too. Sit at the bar for a more laid back experience. The bar also affords a great view for people watching throughout the entire restaurant, which can get interesting quickly. Definitely a great spot for drinks, a quick bite or a nice meal. Always a good choice.

I got a take out pizza here once. The pizza was pretty mediocre. It was weird having to wait inside the resto since the people eating there are depressing old divorced people on dates. I haven't been back. I had Imo's recently and it was way more memorable and fun cause it had velvita cheese on it. Maybe market table should try that.

EXQUISITE! Central Table Food Hall is a food court for a foodie with discriminating taste. I was fortunate enough to attend a Tasting Dinner for Yelp Elite last week and after being teased with all those delectable tastings, I was anxious to return. I am also proud that Central Table is my 600th Yelp review. The ambiance is magnificent and impressive as a Grand Hall should be. It is vast and open with massive amounts of natural light spilling in through the windows. (The natural light was perfect for taking Yelp pictures.) Their extensive windows has the large space feeling extra large. The bar is perfectly positioned to enjoy the natural light, with seating all around. It is then surrounded by tables for two and communal tables for large groups, or making new friends. SUCCULENT! As we sipped some Lucy Rose, we narrowed our entree choices down from their; Hearth, Grill, Raw and Sushi selections. We also munched on the complementary bread which was not your typical bread and butter basket. It was two pieces of bread, with a sampling of provencale sauce and grated cheese. Yum. Before our entrees, we shared a Caesar Salad. What attracted me to their Caesar, was that it had White Anchovies. I love White Anchovies. For those of you not familiar with them, White Anchovies are the more elegant cousin of the briny brown fillets that most are familiar with. White Anchovies are filleted into two pieces and packed in an oil and vinegar marinade. The vinegar gives a snap to the anchovies. Back to the salad, it was bite size pieces of Romaine lettuce, Parmigiano - Regianno and of course my favorite White Anchovies. The croutons were also a stand out. In addition to being flavorful, they were deformed. Each crouton was like a snowflake, different in shape and form. Letting you know these were fresh, made in house and not pulled from a bag. The BF choose the Sushi Combo with Spicy Tuna Roll and 6 pieces of Chefs Choice Nigiri. He proclaimed this to be the best Sushi in the city. After placing our orders he was bantering with the server about Sea Urchin. He commented he can not find anyone who can do Sea Urchin right. The gauntlet was thrown down. The server knew their chef could do it and do it right. He returned with a Sea Urchin "shooter" and he was correct, his chef did it RIGHT. The BF loved it! I normally am not a fan of Sushi, but I will say the one Spicy Tuna Roll that I enjoyed has me reconsidering my distaste for Sushi. I've always been told if you do not like a food, it is just because you've never had it made appropriately. This may be the case with my past Sushi experiences. My entree was the Scallops. I enjoyed three large Sea Scallops with some Summer Squash, Bok Choy and Argula. Each of my Scallops were large enough to provide me with three bites each. I'll take Sea over Bay Scallops any day. I loved how they had wafer sliced squash on the plate and then multiple mini balls of squash. How creative to scoop the insides of the squash with a melon ball tool. I'll be trying this at home. The Bok Choy was sautéed tender, leaving enough snap showing the freshness. They use baby/mini Bok Choy which makes a better presentation on the plate. If you're out for the experience, you might as well go whole hog and do dessert. Our server recommended the Affogato which is Caramel Gelato with Espresso. The Gelato is served in a coffee cup and then when it is brought to your table they pour just enough Espresso on top from a French Press to cover it. A perfect ending to any meal or for just stopping in and enjoying a night cap. I just wish I could have gotten a picture before he added the hot Espresso. I already know I will be coming back soon. I am determined to experience the Gooseberry & Lamb Pizza. Gooseberries, Lamb Bacon, Goat Cheese, Honey and Black Pepper. Doesn't it sound decadent?

I came here for dinner to start off my friend's bachelorette party night. She loved the wood tables almost as I do and the elegant classiness of the restaurant. We had an amazing server Isaac who stopped by often to check on us and who made it super easy to split our checks at the end of the dinner. Our table split a Hawaiian pizza and a Diavolo pizza, and some others ordered the salmon, and a roll of sushi. We also got 4 oysters (a bit pricey here) that were quite fresh; I'm not usually an oyster-eater but they were really good here with the sauces that came with it. Since it was the night of the Cardinals vs. Red Sox game they also had drink specials and we got a few Cosmos and a pomegranate cocktail that was tangy and yummy. The pizzas were both a bit spicy, although my friend put chili oil on top of her pizza slices so I think she enjoyed that extra kick. I love thin-crust pizza and the crust here is amaazing--a little bit chewy, and very well flavored. I did end up picking out some of the jalapenos in my Hawaiian pizza. I loved that you get a free soda here when you check in with Yelp! They didn't give me any issues with redeeming that offer at all. Overall we had a lovely experience here and we loved the service and the food! Will come back for lunch.

I'd heard about this place for quite some time before coming here, we ordered quite a number of items off the menu to pass around and they were all just awesome. Its hard to say which dishes stood out the most as they were all so wonderful. We had the Shishito peppers, Meatballs, Mussels, Prosciutto flatbread, bone marrow. The peppers are really great, I'd def try them (they're not spicy). Really I can't imagine you could go wrong with anything on the menu.

We ate here on a Saturday night, and there weren't too many people eating besides us. The inside is huge and very nicely decorated, and there was live music as well. I ordered the margherita pizza and the kale salad - both were pretty good but nothing spectacular. I think I'd try eating here again and maybe get one of the pasta dishes instead. I am just really particular about pizza! The service was good and the owner came and chatted with us after our meal was finished. I would try this place again, I'd just want to try a different dish!

A smorgasbord of options awaits you here at CTFH. First thing you need to know is they have validated parking at the adjacent parking garage. I know that now after getting an expired parking meter ticket after leaving. I dined here for lunch and had a chuckle trying to figure out what I wanted to eat. There are so many different choices. It makes sense, as this restaurant is located right next door to Barnes Jewish. It's essentially an upscale cafeteria type setup that most definitely gets a hefty part of its patronage from the hospital. My mother and I sampled the sushi, fish tacos, and club sandwich. All three dishes were top notch. The fish tacos were some of the best I've ever had. The food arrived swiftly without us ever feeling rushed. The staff probably rarely gets completely overwhelmed, since there are different station cooks responsible for the specific type of dishes listed on the menu. From afar it seems like a big mess of entirely different menu items, but once you zone into what you want, leave it up to the staff at Central Table Food Hall to leave you pleasantly surprised. An interesting concept that appears to me to be beautifully executed.

Central Table is an interesting space with decent food and service. The dining area is unique: there are multiple prep stations surrounding the dining area, where tables are nicely spaced from one another. Despite the spartan decor and the harsh industrial surfaces, the noise in the dining area isn't too bad, allowing you to carry on a conversation without too much difficulty. The menu can be a bit daunting, not so much due to the sheer number of selections, but due to the lack of a central theme. Seafood offerings are mixed with small plates and pizzas on the front, and on the back it's nothing but sushi. In many ways, this approach is great, since it can accommodate a variety of tastes when dining in a group, but the smallish nature of most of the plates means that you're liable to end up mixing and matching a bunch of dishes that don't necessarily mesh well together, and that--in my opinion--is Central Table's biggest failing. The food overall is very good, and I applaud some of the bolder choices on the menu, especially the marrow. I've long lamented the fact that we've grown accustomed to discarding some of the best parts of the animal, and the marrow was a perfect illustration of that. It was buttery and flavorful, served with a side of absolutely dynamite bread. Though my friends were reluctant to try it, all of them were surprised to find how much they liked it. My friend had the squash ravioli, which were equally good, and another pasta dish got high marks from my friend. We also shared some oysters on the half shell, which were fresh, though I didn't care for the accompanying condiments, which were all too sweet to pair with the oysters. The staff was quick to point out their "award-winning sushi," so we did have to try that out. I must say that I wasn't overly impressed. Pieces of octopus nigiri were extremely dry, with the corners of the octopus almost so dehydrated that it was crunchy. The rice as well was very dry. It made me wonder if these pieces had been sitting out for a long time instead of being prepared to order. The roll I ordered was decent, but a bit overdone. I've never quite understood St. Louisans' need to overwhelm raw fish with so many other ingredients that it's barely recognizeable, but Central Table has joined the bandwagon. As with the nigiri, the roll was a bit dry and rather small for a "special" roll. Needless to say, I was not overly impressed with the quality of the sushi, especially considering that the prices are higher than any of the other four places in the neighborhood that serve sushi and sashimi. Finally, the drinks were only so/so. The cocktail menu is limited, and while the selection is interesting on paper, most of the drinks we sampled lacked balance; many flavors that should have been strong, like green chartreuse, more or less missing from the overall flavor profile. A martini ordered dirty with stuffed olives was presented without stuffed olives or olive juice. The server was more than happy to take the drink back, but all the bartender did was add olive juice without re-chilling the mixture, meaning that what returned was lukewarm. The stuffed olives never arrived. All in all, Central Table is decent, but not spectacular. The quality of the food is generally good, but the quality is not quite on par with the price, especially given some of the inconsistencies in preparation. The sushi is overpriced and poorly textured, and the bartenders could stand to put a little more care into the drinks they're making for $11 a pop. By all means, Central Table is worth a try. They do enough right that the lapses in quality control aren't dealbreakers, but they are enough to keep me from being a regular.

Come to Central Table Food Hall for a neat dining experience in Central West End! For the people (like myself) who get sensory overload when entering the grocery store, get completely side tracked from the list, and end up with a whole lot of items that were not on the list, then you may require some discipline when you visit CTFH. Prior to arriving to CTFH, I said I would share two plates with my husband, as we already had dinner. Epic fail! The endless options on the menu made me think more with my eyes than my already full stomach. The mussels, Papasan sushi roll, and East Coast oysters had incredible flavor. I have had a lot of hit and miss experiences with seafood in St. Louis, but the seafood here is amazing. I hope they maintain the quality of the delicious seafood Unfortunately, with many food options, comes the challenge of being able to execute everything very well. The bone marrow lacked flavor and was disappointing. The French toast was overly sweet. Nonetheless, I love the casual, inviting ambiance and location of CTFH and I will be back more to indulge in this FUN, novelty restaurant, food market, bar! I wish CTFH would have buffet night once a month so I could sample a little bit of everything!

I normally don't write reviews but... Wow! I would not change a thing about this place. What I don't understand is why EVERYONE isn't here! From the service, to the food, the wine to the ambiance this restaurant is one of the best in STL! They have an amazing happy hour- who can turn down $3 wine and martinis and $4 apps? In the heart of the Central West End, I will come back and bring everyone I know for a fun night!

My friend and I visited CTFH on a Saturday night to try their sushi. We were not aware but reservations are recommended for dinner. We sat at the sushi bar and most of the tables were occupied. The rumors are true. Sushi is absolutely amazing. Courtesy of your sushi chef, Soung. Started off with a Caesar salad and it wasn't anything special. Impartial to the salty anchovy pieces tossed into the salad. Most likely homemade croutons and dressing. We had the sashimi combo which consists of 15 delightful pieces of fresh fish. My mouth is actually salivating thinking about it. The presentation of the dishes were beautiful as well. I always order a spicy tuna roll so don't judge me haha. The Mushroom roll(?) was just as amazing. The entire roll is baked and just melts in your mouth. Definitely order this one! Tuna tataki with garlic chips, ponzu, and I believe chive oil was equally delicious. The crunch of the garlic chip and the sweet/salty/tangy from the sauce was the perfect balance. The perfect bite. I'm sure you get the idea. Some pictures to back my claims. Easily 5 stars. Kudos for $4 valet as parking could be a nightmare in the CWE.

After moving to St. Louis, I made it my goal to eat at every restaurant on Euclid. (I live in the Central West End). Central Table is one my friend's favorites, so I have been with her for just happy hour and once for a weekday lunch. As for Happy Hour, we went in and walked straight up to the bar. The place has a very cool vibe and is a little different that a normal restaurant. It has a coffee shop to the left with couches and things when you first walk in, and then has a restaurant to the right. A large bar island is in the middle of the restaurant. It was a little confusing as to how logistically it works if you want to order food, there is a menu, but also it looked like there were little ordering windows scattered along the back wall of the restaurant. As long as I heard correctly, you no longer go up to a window, the waiter will take care of that for you. The happy hour was great. Although, there were only 3 other people in the entire restaurant. I had a yummy glass of wine for $3.00 and the bar manager even brought out a complimentary snack. ; ) When I went for lunch, I sat at a tall table near the window and ordered the fish tacos. They were super delicious and only $9.00 I have never been there for dinner, but the prices seem a little higher. I also am not sure how busy this restaurant actually gets, given I have been twice and it wasn't busy either time. If you want a quiet meal, good happy hour, or a cup of coffee... this is a great place to go!

I stopped by for dinner with two girlfriends a few months back. What a lovely modern space, with plenty to talk about and see while waiting for menu/service. No big complaints with the service. Waiter swapped two of our drinks that were very similar and we didn't notice until two sips in. It was alright since my friend doesn't have cooties (that I know of). He was friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my pizza and cocktail. The three of us split the bone marrow, which was unfortunately poorly executed. Three pieces were served but one was significantly smaller than the other two. Obviously this is not a dish you order to get a large quantity of food, but the inconsistency in the three was pretty darn inconsiderate in a sharing situation. I am not dying to go back any time soon because I can get similar pizzas at Pizza places like Dewey's and Katie's; I can swing by one of the many Sushi Ai branches for sushi (perhaps quantity over quality at times); or I can head down the street to Taste for more creative cocktails and small plates. I'm just not sure where this place fits into my map of go-to culinary establishments in this city.

This place commands top dollar but food quality and service makes this place laughable. Food quality minimal. Nothing consistent. Service: where do I start. Lazy, pompous and non-attentive isn't service, it's rude. Won't be back.

I'd give this place 4 1/2 stars, but it was great! Alot of great options. I tried my friends burger and salad, both delicious. I had corn beef hash plate with an egg on top, it was totally yummy! We actually went in looking for the dinner menu, the lunch menu was different so we almost left, but glad we didn't. Very trendy place, but casual at the same time because you seat yourself and pick up your own food when your buzzer goes off. Excellent service by the host.

Just got back from an absolutely terrible brunch experience here. Seriously, I'm genuinely surprised they are still in business. I came here for brunch with a group from a wedding the previous day, about 30 people with an advance reservation. When I arrived with my boyfriend, the bride and groom explained that the manager they had spoken with had been very unhelpful and even hostile to the group, which struck me as very strange given that, at noon on the Sunday on Memorial Day weekend, there were almost no other people there. There were also several very obvious typos on the menu (including a $61 egg scramble) that suggested carelessness. I ordered the Mediterranean, and my boyfriend ordered the Central Omelette. We waited nearly an hour for our food. I understand that we were a large group, but we were in smaller groups that each ordered at different times, so the wait seemed beyond understandable. When our food eventually did arrive, I noticed that my meal was missing the poached eggs described in the menu (under the "eggs" section, I might add). I mentioned this to the server, and he admitted the error and brought it back to the kitchen. Meanwhile, my boyfriend and I started eating his omelette. The eggs were fine but the "chorizo" was unlike any chorizo I've ever had - it tasted like chopped-up ham. The breakfast potatoes on the side were incredibly bland. Another person at our table ordered another egg dish - scrambled eggs with mushrooms - and was very disappointed by how dull and bland it was for $12. When my meal returned with poached eggs, I saw immediately that they were so underdone that they were swimming in a puddle of watery egg white. It was terrible. When I pointed this out to the server, he agreed that they were way too underdone, and offered to put the dish in the oven to cook the eggs more. Not exactly perfect, but by this point I had waited nearly an hour for my food and just wanted to eat something. Eventually he came back with another plate, the eggs still watery but at least cooked this time. The polenta was tasty, but the spinach was way too salty. To their credit, they comped my Mediterranean, but I still came away feeling like this place was terribly run. I spoke with others in the group, and apparently runny, watery eggs were the rule regardless of what or when they were ordered. The kicker of the brunch was when we spoke afterwards with a friend who had eaten at another table. I was explaining what had happened with my eggs, and she realized that she had ordered the same thing I had and never gotten her eggs at all! She had already paid by this point, but she was understandably angry. We all left looking forward to never coming back to Central Table.

Totally overcooked burgers. They can't even get the basics right. If the chefs had as much cooking skills as the manager has attitude this place would have 3 Michelin stars. Reality is burgers are better at BJC hospital canteen and stuff there is more caring.

Boyfriend and I came here with is mother. We were wandering around the CWE and i remembered this place existed. We were all just hungry enough to want food but not hungry enough to be overly picky so we defaulted to this place with a unanimous "why not?" Our waitress was super friendly and nice. She sold all the items on the list very well. I asked about the cuttlefish and octopus and due to the fact that boyfriend's mother is a pescatarian, I settled on the cuttlefish as an appetizer. It was delicious. Small pieces of white curly meat with bits of green on a bed of zesty sauce. YUM. For our entrees, the bf ordered the diavolo pizza which was just ok and his mother ordered the margarite pizza which was a bit better. I got the pate appetizer as my meal. It wasn't really what i expected or really wanted. I had imagine something more lightly fried with a softer texture on the inside. I wanted cute little round medallions of pate. What i got was two semi-triangular pieces with way too much fried stuff. The egg yolk was pre-broken and not all the white was cooked. I ate it, being not an overly squeamish person, but it was not my favorite. Finally, the greens on the side were just OK. Needless to say, I was disappointed. The bread that came with the entrees, on the other hand was delightful. This food experience fell short of me being a fan of it. It wasn't bad but not amazing. Well, the cuttlefish was pretty amazing... but just not enough to make up for the other less than delightful food.

My partner and I were here for lunch on a Tuesday afternoon. We shared the fajitas and an edamame and spinach salad. Both were underwhelming at best. The fajita meat was tough and without flavor. The "salsa" alongside was just tomato sauce, and tasted like the kind they use on the pizza. They did not have sour creme. The portion size was small. Nothing about the meal could justify the $11 price tag. For the salad, it was drenched in a soy dressing that tasted overwhelmingly of soy sauce; it was so salty it was almost inedible. The edamame was almost nonexistent on the greens. Very disappointing. Again, did not justify its price tag. To the upside, the food was quickly prepared, and staff members were pleasant enough. Very disappointing experience overall. We won't be back.

For the most part the meal was very nice. The only real issue I had was that the chimichuri was nonexistent on my flat iron steak. I would also recommend that the add a variety of olives to the olive app instead of a lot of one type. Our dinner partner did not care for the roulades she had, nor did I when I tasted it. All in all I had a great time at Central Table and would go back.

I've been waiting until this place opens..Finally! I wasn't sure what to expect but went in for dinner after a long night at the office. I sat at the bar and had friendly service. Got a fantastic $6 Shebang glass of red. So this place has a very interesting concept. High-end "food hall" means that there are multiple options of fare under one roof. I got a spicy salmon roll (which was SO GOOD), a green salad that had delightful greens and parmesan, and "Buffalo Sweetbreads" which were Central Table's take on buffalo wings. Very interesting. three small plates AND a glass of wine and tip was about $43. Great experience and very convenient to walk to from work.

What a wonderful dining experience. Sam was one of the top three servers I've ever had the pleasure of meeting. He made us feel like we were experimenting with new foods in our own house. The difference is that we could never parallel the artistic production of what we received. If you consider yourself a foodie and enjoy an experience rather than a plate, you must visit.

Food is delicious. It's quite expensive for dinner, but it's very reasonable for lunch. Menus are very different between the two, but there's a very good variety for both meals. I'd probably recommend lunch over dinner just based on price difference ($15 meal vs $50 meal)

We had a really solid experience at Central Table. The concept is interesting, I was picturing a high end cafeteria but this place definitely has waiter service and all that jazz - it's a sit down place. They have a variety of food to appease many palates. Vegetarian options are slim - the stuffed peppers that my friend ordered were not too filling but she said they were good. My husband and I tried the margharita pizza and the lasagna. Both were very good. Our waiter provided us good service. Make a reservation - this place was packed! Valet was $4 but we found street parking a block or two away on a Saturday night at 7PM.

Oh, my goodness. We went to CTFH for a fancy-but-not-too-fancy Valentine's dinner, and although my date didn't at first know there was a prix fixe option, he gamely went along when I wanted to try it. I am SO glad we did! The atmosphere was perfect for us. Nice, but not snooty. Everything from t shirts and jeans to dresses and slacks, and no one seemed out of place. Our service was great, too. Sam is a helpful waiter with a good sense of humor! The timing was also very good, considering the crowd. We waited only ten minutes or less between courses. First we ordered drinks to peruse the menu (before going with the prix-fixe). My Negroni was very good, maybe a little heavy on the bitters. Now on to the food. First of all, it was practically impossible to go wrong. Sushi, pizza, steak, small plates... wow. We will be back. The fixe menu was reasonably priced ($75) for the offerings. We chose a bottle of bubbly white to begin. There was a bruschetta like amuse bouche served, which tasted bright and fresh. The pancetta alla quercia was our appetizer, a simple plate of pancetta, greens, soft cheese, and flatbread. We had a little fun with the DIY aspect of this, and it was delicious in combination. The salad offerings were the market greens dressed with lemon and oil, or a Caesar. The market greens had a nice dash of pepper, ribbon carrots, and a good balance of flavor. The Caesar was also impressive- dressing was anchovy-forward, croutons were crisp outside and chewy inside. For entrees there were three options: wagyu beef with anchovy chimichurri, wild salmon, and butternut squash ravioli. The date got dibs on the wagyu, so I opted for the salmon. OH MY GOD. How do they get beef to taste like that, I'll never really know. The wagyu was served over potatoes and endive. It was perfectly prepared and sliced for a nonchalant presentation. Not too intimidating for my non foodie date. My salmon was divine also. Melted away like butter in my mouth, with a crisp skin to balance it out. It was served with dressed green beans and a few ultra fresh, blistered cherry tomatoes over I think an aioli. So good. I saw stars. Finally the dessert course. We had three options and went with the bread pudding. Perfect. A little candied lemon, a few raisins, chocolate sauce and a dollop of whipped cream accompanied the slice. We were in heaven. Overall, yes, CTFH is a little pricy. But it was well worth the cost for a romantic, delicious meal.

Visited Central Table Food Hall Friday evening. *First impression is that the space is attractive and very large, hope they can get plenty of traffic overtime to support this ambitious operation. *Sat at the bar - one end is a raw bar, the other end is a sushi bar. You can sit anywhere around the bar and just drink, order anything from the menu or the raw/sushi bar. * FREE WI-FI - Perfect for perusing your IPAD at the bar *Had a nice red wine only $6 buck per glass, split a veggie flat bread (delicious!) and split the Forest Park sushi roll (not the best I've ever had, but good) Overall - I think it's WIN for CWE and I plan on going back - I was disappointed to see that their coffee bar is serving up Starbuck's - geez there are so many independent small coffee roasters they could have selected - oh well

I don't know what's more shocking, the fact that this place stays open or the fact that there are people who like the food. I've been here three times (really I HAD to be sure!). Here's been my very consistent experience. 1. Nice, but not very knowledgeable staff. Don't expect to get any answers about what a dish is and how it's prepared. 2. Prompt service. In and out for lunch in a reasonable time (yay!) 3. Very well decorated. Beautiful idea and a great concept (and genius location). 4. Reasonable prices - seriously you can justify this place on your expense report at the end of the month. 5. Embarrassingly poor food. The first time I had a soggy pizza matched only by the soggy accompanying salad. The second time I had a very dry and bland risotto. The third time, I had chicken where the only spice on it was curry (not even salt), a pita so thick I could have sworn it was focaccia, and "cucumber mint salad" that consisted of a few slices of cucumber that tasted like it had been pickled in mint water resting in some random leaves of romaine. Who is looking at these plates or tasting this food and saying - "Yep, looks good!." Sadly, if they just tried a new chef, or quality control manager, this place could be stellar. For now, it looks like the business-lunch crowd will keep this place open until a more viable option appears.

Went here for lunch on a Tuesday with friends. The food was alright, good but not spectacular. What did stand out was the variety of options ranging from deli sandwiches to pizza to items from a small convenience store. I would have liked to try the sushi, but this is not available for lunch. I got an heirloom tomato and cheese sandwich with a side of fruit. The fruit was fantastic, very fresh and included nectarines, blackberries, and strawberries, which I'm not used to seeing as a side. The tomatoes on the sandwich were delicious and came as very thick slices and the cheese was pretty good, but the sandwich was very greasy to hold and necessitated many napkins and some hand washing to clean up my hands. Definitely not ideal. Final verdict, at least for lunch, is that if you're at or near the hospital complex and looking for fast food with some creativity, the Central Table gets the job done.

Brunch, lunch, or dinner Central Table is an enjoyable destination. The atmosphere is open and inviting, the staff is knowledgable, friendly, and quick, and the menu and food are impeccable!

Oh, brother. Another slickly designed restaurant with very ordinary food and below par service. If half the money invested in the space had gone toward creating an exciting culinary experience, more people would be raving. Instead, you have a an average food court wrapped in chic clothing. Culinaria downtown does it much better. There, you can pick out your fresh fish and have it grilled up before your eyes, while you nurse a bottle of Pellegrino...for less money.. When I showed up neither the sushi bar nor the raw bar were in service and the staff acted as though they were working tables at the West County Mall. When you spend more money on light fixtures than you do on wages, that's what you can expect. The deli looks like what you'd see at a museum cafeteria....everything is wrapped in plastic. How about gourmet cookies and pastries under a glass dome....fuhgetaboutit! Not here. Nice space, though. It's as though the owners forgot that it's all about the FOOD and the SERVICE and, instead, focused exclusively on the package. As my Grandpa used to say, "It's all hat and no cattle." I won't predict this place's future in a city that has a high tolerance for the mediocre, but unless the owners start concentrating on the fundamentals, I won't be back.

Wow, do I want this place to work! Central Table is a bland name for a pretty nifty set-up. Set in 10,000 square feet of prime CWE real estate near ravenous Barnes interns, this place is a high-end food court by day (minus sbarro), up-scale dining by night. I enjoyed a unique dinner here a few days ago, during their training/soft opening. It's a large, drafty, cafeteria like space, we were greeted extensively. Forget the minor delays/looking at notes, the staff is very friendly. I dined on octopus for my app, 'say what?!'. Served with fennel, it was a taste these buds have not experienced. Going for a safe bet, I had the Vegetable pizza as my entree, with broccoli rabe, mushrooms, tomato and eggplant. Did you hear? They have a stone oven that will heat up to 1,000 degrees to heat your pizza. It was tasty, a bit salty on the dough. For dessert, we had the Blood-orange sorbet, chocolate/olive cake. Supposedly some ganache in there as well. I enjoyed the odd flavor combo, yes....those are olives! Use the valet for $4 if you are against walking, or park in the BJC garage cause the validate your ticket at night, for pete's sake. I will be back, to assess the other dining stations, maybe some sushi? Or chocolates to go?! Or probably a quick sandwich for lunch.

I suppose normally I would give this establishment a 4 star review, but because it is squandering so much potential, I have to give it a 3. Central Table is in a great location with a great space and potential. I've eaten there twice for dinner because of this. The main concept of Central Table is the food hall concept where you can try different foods, but I think this then creates an identity crisis. It almost only makes sense if you are going here because you have a large party of people with decidedly different tastes who cannot agree on eating one type of food. There are only a few items of each "type," and I can envision these getting old unless the menu is constantly revamped. The sushi was tasty (especially the papasan), but if you are going to eat sushi why not go a street down to Kampaii where you have a better selection and prices? Pizza was ok... (in fact the second diavolo pizza was a mess... toppings were not scattered evenly and the thin crust was soggy... how do you make a soggy thin crust??). If you want good pizza, go four blocks down to pi. Etc etc etc. The prices also are not cheap! In a neighborhood with so much variety, you have to do things well and be priced well to be competitive. There is no excuse that a place located right across from a monster hospital is practically empty during lunch. The S.O. tried to go at lunch and was so confused because there were no menus at each station that he just left. Other thoughts: There should be better dessert options. They are trying too hard to be "fancy" and then alienate the "upscale food court" crowd. 3 options of "fancy rice krispy," a "strawberry soup," and banana vs vanilla bean vs peanut butter gelato. Where's the chocolate? Beet salad was tasty. The deconstructed concept on the steak tartare made for a very unpleasant set up. Wine choices are decent. Overall, I think it's worth trying once or twice. But more than that? Meh... Also... I don't understand why the market is not open later at night. To milk its potential, it seems to make sense to be available as long as the restaurant is open as well. That way people who live in the neighborhood might actually consider running in and grabbing something that is priced higher than usual because it would be convenient. During the day we'd just drive to the real supermarket.

Very disappointing. While the taste was good, the portions served were absurd. The service started with one piece of focaccia to split amongst the table. The "Cheese and Salume" board had less than a tablespoon of goat cheese and a small wedge of bleu. cost $22. They were out of Lasagna so we ordered the Tortellini. The entrée had six pieces. Including the bottle of Barolo, the bill was $116. We left to find somewhere to have dinner.

One word. SALT!!! Try using some. We have a dinner group that runs around every other month trying new places. My wife was making reservations for our group and it says the only time is a 9:00 pm and that this place is crazy on the weekends. Well, we get there and this place is a ghost town. We could have eaten earlier, but you know, every time slot was taken except 9:00 pm. We knew we were in trouble when the owner was practically kissing our backsides for walking into his vast wasteland of emptiness. I had the Salumi plate that had a good portion of Salumi on it. The grain mustard that came with it was horrible and the chorizo was pretty bad too. I don't know if they make their own or not, but they should really stop making it. Not good at all. For my entree I ordered the Lamb shank over risotto and root vegetables. The lamb fell off the bone, as it should, and was very tender. Enter Chef No Salt. This meal had no seasoning. Literally no salt on the veggies, lamb or risotto. My wife ordered the risotto as a meal and it had zero salt in it also. What type of chef ignores the most basic seasoning of any meal? This place will not last very long in the CWE. Absolutely horrible. The wait staff was nice, but that is not enough to give an extra star. $111.00, not including tip later, (that was for just my wife and I), we left Bland-ville apologizing to the rest of the group for picking this uninspiring, flavorless experience. I do not recommend and will not recommend this place to anyone.

Granted, I went for dessert only, but it was so bad I'm compelled to note it. There were three options. A friend and I tried two. They were horrific. Busy, thoughtless mixes of ingredients. If the the dishes were prepared via concept, I don't understand that concept and I'm skeptical that the folks at Central Table understand it. Truly awful. Screwing up gelato is an achievement. I worry that Central Table was far more an exercise in design than in cuisine.

We went to Central Table for breakfast this morning, and everything from the service to the food was off. The restaurant had very few people in it, but it took almost an hour to get our food. We both ordered "egg scrambles," which consisted of scrambled eggs with mushrooms on top. There was water in the bowl with the eggs, which was weird, and none of the food tasted seasoned. The menu said that the dishes came with frisee, but they actually put a clump of undressed arugula on top of the eggs. We also ordered a fruit cup, which came five minutes after our already late entrees. It was a wholly unenjoyable experience, and I do not plan to return.

The hostess - was a terrible choice by management. She kept turning everyone down for a Friday night dinner while the space actually looked empty. Service - mediocre. The waitress had limited knowledge of food. The menu was conceptual but food poorly delivered bone marrow - you get a burned cow femur with some bread on the side. there was nothing to eat there even for one person, forget about sharing. The bone marrow dish at Taste is so much better Cheese and meat plate - the price is extremely steep for quite a mediocre selection of product. The Bridge on locust offers a much more sofisticated selection for a better price. Pizza - a OK Neapolitan style Pizza but Good pie is much better Tried to go there for lunch - what a huge disappointment. May be my mistake was that I ordered a sandwich. The nearby bread company has better sandwich and a faster service, and lower price. Not only it is confusing to understand how the space works at lunch, none of the people working in this space volunteers to help you. Hostess at the door just looked largely bored. Lastly , the dessert is the only reason I am not giving this place one star. It was very surprising in a good way. If ever come again to central table is for the dessert.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but this place JUST opened. Today was to be my first taste of Central Table as I planned to go to their café for breakfast. I approached the door and there was a sign saying the café was closed for remodeling. Um...remodeling? You just opened. It's Friday. Ridiculous and terrible timing. Get it right before you open and then there won't be the need to disappoint customers who expect you to be open. It just seems very silly and ill planned. I might be back but maybe not.

Central Table used to be my favorite restaurant. The food was amazing and the service was excellent, I came here weekly. My most recent visit proved that the management is everything. My first visit since the general manager switch, I found the service was lacking and the food was terrible. I never would have thought it possible to burn sushi, but apparently the new sushi chef can do the impossible. While in most restaurants your water glass never even gets below half full, I could not even flag down a waiter to refill my glass here. Central Table needs a bit of an overhaul if they don't want to lose customers.

I wish I could rate this place a zero star however since I'm required to put a star I rate it a 1 for the beautiful wall I had to stare at before walking out. Upon arrival on a Friday night at 6:30PM we noticed that the entire place was empty so we thought "great no wait!". The hostess called over the waiter to seat us and out of the whole empty dining room she seats us next to a wall when there were clearly tons of open tables with a view outside. I politely asked to take any of the other tables for her to respond "they are all reserved". Really?!? There are literally 4 people here!!!!!!!! Thank you but I will never come back even though I really liked the atmosphere (minus the wall we stared at).

First and foremost, I am giving this restaurant a 5 star because of their response to sending the food back. Yes, sounds a bit crazy to give such a high rating but we were very impressed. We began our dinner with fried oysters on the half shell. Absolutely incredible. I am not a oyster fan (my husband is) and I was reluctant to try one. After my initial bite, I was hooked. They were served in a black sauce that was yummy! Caesar salad was incredible and they served it with white anchovies. Finally, a restaurant that gets it!! White anchovies are the best on a caesar. Home made dressing. I highly recommend. Next is where it got a bit tricky. We ordered the 32 oz. aged steak to share ($80 entree.) It came with fried fingerling potatoes (quite yummy) and some sort of greens and a bone marrow bone. Unfortunately, as soon as we each took a bite, we knew that the beef was bad. It tasted horrible. I wont go into too much description here, but we flagged down the server and told her that it was bad. Let me say that we almost NEVER send anything back to the kitchen. Having worked in the industry, I know better. Our server (Phoebe) never flinched. She apologized and took the plates away. In good faith, we reordered. My husband chose the strip steak and I ordered a variety of sushi. The meals came out in a timely manner and were delicious. At some point a gentleman came over to ask if our meals were good (most likely a manager.) I think it speaks volumes for a restaurant to not make a big deal about sending an expensive meal back and quickly trying to correct the situation. Our bill was $145 (also ordered wine) and we no doubt spent more due to the great service. Phoebe was attentive and friendly. We will definitely be back and will be bringing friends.

Tried this place for the first time last night. Had the fried cuttlefish, vegetable tempora and vegetable pizza with a bottle of red in a tapas style meal. All of these were delicious although, fair warning, when they say "small plates", they aren't kidding! The portions ended up being just right for the two of us but we didn't have huge appetites. Probably the only thing keeping this review from a 5 star were the prices. Would have liked to see more food on the plate for the amount paid but then again, this was the West End. The sauce for the cuttlefish was so good I kept it around to use for other items. I highly recommend the veggie pizza with fresh arugula on top although one gripe people... please actually cut the slices all the way through! Not one piece can off the pan cleanly and we were left ripping and tearing each piece the whole night. Sort of frustrating but obviously didn't affect the taste. Considering it was my first time and reading previous reviews, I would say the service is vastly improved. Granted it was a Sunday evening with only a handful of tables but we had our water filled constantly and our server asked several times how things were and if we needed a box for our remaining pizza. Overall this place is in a fantastic location with many offerings. The market area and other spots appeared closed for the evening but I'm sure they score big with the BJC and WU med crowds during the week. Will definitely be back to check them out again.

Literally the best place for everyone. Everyone. My brother loved it and he's the pickiest person I know. He got the burger; which I must say is one of the best burgers I have ever had. Great bun, cheese and juicy meet. Perfect. My mom got the salume sandwich, also great. I got the arugula salad, which was simply dressed with a roasted garlic dressing, asparagus, edamame and cheese; which I believe was Parmesan but I can't exactly remember. The service was great, informative, yet let us wander before making a decision. The reason why I'm giving it 4 instead of 5 stars is because I would really, really love it if they had sushi at lunch as well. REALLY would love it. Otherwise I can't wait to keep returning and trying seasonal dishes. A fantastic addition to the CWE!

I was drawn in here by the interesting-looking atmosphere, but was disappointed. They don't seem to have a vision as to what kind of restaurant they are--is it tapas? Asian fusion? I actually went in anticipating some kind of buffet. Either way, it was expensive and the food wasn't very good!

I've been here twice-- once for the soft opening for dinner and once for brunch recently. I was not impressed during the soft opening. The food was fine, but was overpriced. Brunch felt the same way. We had the breakfast pizza which was interested, and big enough to share for two people. But I thought that the egg on top was too runny. It is a beautiful space, and the only place in the CWE that seems like it could accomodate a larger group of people.

I had high hopes for this restaurant due to all of the good buzz it's been getting in places like Sauce. However, when I went, I began to wonder if these reviewers had been to the same place as me! The restaurant is very inviting and concept really interesting, which is why I chose it as the location for my monthly book club. Decor-wise it was a great space and not busy at all, making it a great spot for our book club. I wish I could say that the food lived up to the decor. The bread they brought out was delicious. It had to hold us over for a while, because our food took FOREVER. Since there was a large group of us, we each ordered different types of foods. I was debating among the sushi, the pasta, and the pizza. I decided to go for the healthy option and choose a sushi roll and an order of root vegetables. I chose the veggie side, because the salads were all around $10, which seemed expensive. As soon as the food came, I immediately regretted it. Despite being $11, the sushi roll was tiny. I had been expecting a large specialty roll ala Drunken Fish, but was disappointed with a decent but very ordinary roll that I could have gotten at a number of other sushi restaurants for far less. I ate my roll and was still hungry, but I still had my vegetables. I like to order veggie sides at these nice restaurants, because the chefs have a way of making ordinary veggies seem exciting (see brussel sprouts at The Block). I should have asked what was in the root veggie dish, but considering that the waiter didn't even know it was on the menu, I figured it was futile. I had been expecting a delicious assortment of turnips, parsnips, beets, and other root veggies with maybe some delicious seasoning. Instead I got some carrots and potatoes covered in butter. For $5! I could have done that myself at home. I was very annoyed. Another diner at our table ordered the ravioli and was disappointed at how few there were, considering it was $17, but she left satisfied and full. The others at our table ordered the pizzas and said they were good. They even had leftovers. So lesson learned: if I ever go back there, get the pizza. Otherwise expect to spend $20 and still walk away with your stomach grumbling.

Dinner service extremely slow and sitting at a picnic table for a protracted dinner service is not comfortable. Interesting concept but not sure the combo actually works for dinner service. I think I might like it better for a lunch experience...pastas pizzas grilled meats and sushi. The pasta dish I had was good. Price was reasonable ,

Matt McGuire, the general manager and part owner, is the best restaurant manager in St. Louis which alone makes this place worth visiting. He is extremely professional, watchful and solicitous. Food-wise, my wife and I tried the razor clams, gnocchi, salads and strip steak. Razor clams were tres interesting, wriggling to and fro when we squirted lemon at them. Gnocchi was the best we've had in St. Louis; the broth was simply outstanding with clams, bits of bacon and God knows what else. The skirt steak, prepared with chimichurri, was mouth watering. Can't wait to go back to try the bone marrow and octopus. Central Table, in an instant, has become the best restaurant in the CWE, far surpassing Herbie's, Brasserie and 'Scape in the few days its been open. Breezy decor ("high-end rustic", one could call it), countless food options, four independent kitchens hard at work, interesting seating choices from barstools to kitchen benches, nice selection of wines, extremely pleasant, professional and helpful service. Congratulations to everyone associated with it! (Thank you Palm). Finally, a great place to go in St. Louis in addition to "Niche". And thank God they don't have a TV(s) on constantly - everywhere- flickering sporting events no one wants to see.

Central Table is unique in layout. Lunch place for med students, hospital staff and business folks during the day and trendy foodie joint at night. I almost think it should get a four star rating but its missing a little of the "WoW" factor. We were there for dinner on a busy Saturday night. The place is hipster modern with lots of nice people working hard to make it happen. The GM is friendly, welcoming and attentive. Our server was likewise pleasant and knowledgable. We were an 8 top and it was very difficult to hear, but nothing to get upset about. Although the food was good It did not knock our socks off. The sushi was good but nothing out of the ordinary. The meat and fish entrees were well executed if not overly creative. The sides were all very nice. Its a unique concept in an improving area near a university community. I guess we were expecting a little more ziz. That's all.

Easily one of the best places to go for any type of food. First, the ambiance is incredible. It's in the middle of the bustling Central West End with large windows and suitable for either a large party or a quiet romantic table that is secluded from main area. It also has a nice bar area in the front as well as seats along the cooking areas. Second and most importantly: the food is AMAZING and DELICIOUS. The variety is also very diverse. I will tell you each item that I had. The fois gras: it is easily the best I have ever had including some top restaurants in various cities. Succulent and savory. More importantly, the proportion is the largest I have EVER encountered. They are very generous with this dish. The sea urchin: if you haven't had this by now, you should. This is smooth and prepared very well. Again, my first try at sea urchin was in San Francisco and since then I cannot get enough of it. The bone marrow: I compared this bone marrow to the one from Mosiac and it is definitely more flavorful here. The sea bass and albacore sushi: again, their fish are incredible fresh. It is cut well and generously with easily the most tender sushi I have tasted in Saint Louis. I also want to give props to their ikura which is also fresh. It's annoying when ikura is not fresh because it doesn't have the pop that comes with it but here they made it perfect. Strip steak: again, they have gone over and beyond. You're probably starting to wonder how this place is getting such a good review. I don't know either but this steak was my left over steak that I took home. I placed it in the microwave the next day to heat it up and it was still beyond delicious. I also had a couple items on the menu that I don't know what it's called anymore but they were all delicious. The cheese pizza was the only one that was just slightly above average but good nonetheless. The only thing that was a bit annoying was trying to split the check. They need to figure that out soon. This is my first official review of a restaurant because I truly believe it warrants a wonderful review.

Finally had the opportunity to try this fun hot spot several weeks ago. I had heard much about it and was excited when our group of 6 decided to give it a try. We shared lots of things including a few sushi dishes (my favorite), the lasagna, a couple of pizzas, and the bone marrow. I also had a caesar salad. The environment was electric yet not too crazy that we couldn't talk to each other. The space was cool and there was something on the menu for everyone. I will definitely go back.

Our first time here was great! Food was excellent. As a new establishment they are still working out some operational kinks. Their hours say 6am to 11 pm but that is inaccurate. We came at 4:45 but they stated they didn't open til 5, they couldn't sell us a cocktail at a bar, and there was really nowhere to sit. Once we were allowed to enter, we had to ask for a lot of information and our server seemed visibly nervous speaking to us. She also made up answers' as we asked about ceviche we'd seen advertised as part of the raw bar and she told us about salsas and dipping sauces. Food was excellent. We had a pork special and the papasan roll. We ordered double espressos which came as singles and then were reserved nearly cold with no sugar. Originally we were told they offered only coffee. All in all we enjoyed and will be back under the assumption they are working out startup service kinks.

We just had a great Mother's Day brunch here today. They had a special menu as well as the regular one for today. I had beef tenderloin with fingerling potatoes and bernaise sauce. It was perfect. Also had grapefruit mimosas, which I liked better than the traditional orange. Nice open areas, not to noisy, very nice atmosphere. My daughter said she has had very good sushi here, but did not order it today. Only issue is that parking is always a challenge in this area.

I got to try out a few brunch options at the Yelp! event this past Sunday, and I am ready to go back for more! Especially the breakfast pizza and the baked eggs. The flavor combinations in both were delicious! The breakfast pizza we got to try included over-easy eggs, ricotta cheese, maple bacon, mushrooms and onions, all on top of that soft, warm pizza crust. The baked eggs were a great combo of over easy eggs, pesto, tomato, squash and ricotta served with some fresh and crispy toast triangles. I can't wait to have these dishes again!

I have been to Central Table on several occasions, from the first week that it opened through the present. I have had dinner there for my birthday twice, so that should let you know how much I enjoy this restaurant. Although the menu is expansive, they seem to do a tremendous job with each category of food. I've eaten sushi, seafood, vegetarian entrees and vegetable sides and loved it all. The reason I'm only offering this restaurant 3 stars is due to my most recent experience there. We went for dinner on a Tuesday night, and sadly, every dish we ordered can only be described as mediocre. They offered no sushi whatsoever, which was disappointing as that was the only reason we went! Overall, the quality of the food was not up to the standards I felt Central Table had, and certainly not worth the price. Also, our waiter was rude and impatient on a pretty quiet evening. Overall, I love this place, but I'm concerned about their future as they seem a bit inconsistent.

I like to hit the St. Louis magazine list of best restaurants when a special occasion pops up. I need to stop doing that. Just because a restaurant is brand new, does not mean it's good. They raved about Salt back in the day and that place was as mediocre as this was. We got there early and drank at the bar. They were out of the beer that my husband ordered and this is when I first noticed a problem with the service. Just a bored "We're out of that" no - "We're out of that one but we do have ___ which is another great beer like that." We'd made a reservation but they were late to seat us. That's fine. We waited a little bit for someone to come over and when he did he just appeared. Standing there. Staring at us. We asked if there were specials. No, no specials. I ordered sushi. My husband ordered something else that was out. You know, you could mention what you're out of when you greet us. "Hey, welcome, we don't have any specials tonight and I should mention that we're out of this" The appetizers were good. It took forever for the sushi to come. In fact, it took so long for the sushi to come that they just brought my husband his food. They were apologetic but it's ridiculous that a restaurant can't time their food right. The sushi once it finally came - was meh. It wasn't that great at all. I've had better tasting sushi at Kampai. sure the atmosphere isn't as new there but it's better sushi. I understand that this restaurant is going for this weird modern food hall cafeteria thing with different stations. Unfortunately it appears to be too much for one restaurant to handle. It's like Applebees. Sure you can get everything you'd want on the menu but it is all mediocre. They should just pick something and focus on that and do it really well instead of doing 40 things in a mediocre way.

I wanted to like this place... Nope. I read the reviews, mostly great things. The inside looks cool. All kinds of different food stations? What? I had hopes :( Went in on a Wednesday with my bf - I wanted to come in for a drink, bf wanted dinner. At first we were seated at a table, kinda awkward to be seated in the back of a big empty restaurant, but whatever. We asked what the happy hour specials were since we'd seen the sign walking in. He told us what the specials were (can't even remember what they were - I think it was $5 wines and half off appetizers?) but then told us happy hour were for those seated at the bar. We ended up getting moved to the bar. The bartender/server gave us our waters and asked us what we wanted to order. We each ordered a glass of wine (about 5 minutes left of happy hour). As he turned to get our drinks, he knocked over my entire glass of water on my phone sitting up on the counter! Reflexively, I snatched it up to shake off the spilled water. I got a dry "sorry" and he walked off to get our drinks. He came back and asked if it got messed up, I said I didn't know yet. End of that convo. My bf with a big appetite saw mostly small plates. He's more of a steak and potatoes kinda guy and tapas are not his thing. We ordered calamari as an appetizer (which was pretty good) but bf came hungry and asked about the entrees. There was salmon that came with fingerling potatoes on the dinner menu. He asked our bartender/server man how big it was. The man told us it was huge, "as big as a football" as he showed us with his hands how big that was. Awesome. Then the food came. Well the PLATE was certainly as big as a football... the food? not so much. The salmon was no bigger than a the size of a coaster, couple of green beans, and there were about 8 small halves of potatoes. It was good... I guess, but definitely not the big serving the bartender man described. The bf was still hungry when we left. What a let down. Turns out we missed the "happy hour" specials and were charged regular price for the wine. We might've been able to catch the deal if no time was wasted getting my phone spilled on or if we didn't get seated at a table first. I can't say that I expected a free meal for that, but to receive the happy hour price on my wine couldn't have been that much trouble. He wasn't even particularly nice. So 2 glasses of wine, an appetizer, and that one salmon plate for over $50 during "happy hour"? Never again.

Had a lunch experience just as good as when I went for dinner. Solid choice in the Central West End!

I had been wanting to try this restaurant for a while so it seemed like the perfect spot for a friends dinner, especially as we've all been out of town for a few weeks. I really liked the interior decor and the Bar in the middle stood out especially with the huge barrels decorating the top. It was very spacious inside and the staff was very attentive and helpful throughout the dinner. It took our group of 5 a little while to order but we ended up ordering a mix of salads, sushi and Pizzas. I split the Kale salad and it came with radishes, almonds and a goat cheese croquette. I have a deep love for Kale so this was my favorite dish. The leaves were also massaged with a lemony vinaigrette so it wasn't as tough as raw leaves usually are and the goat cheese was delicious. I only wish the cheese came in a larger portion, but then again is there ever enough goat cheese? My friend that ordered the Ceasar Salad said it met expectations and he loved the anchovies in it ( I don't think I would've enjoyed this option as much). For dinner I ordered the Diavolo and it was every bit as cheesy and spicy and delicious as the other reviews. I liked the thin crust and I liked even more that the brick oven was in the open for all to see. It was almost as good the next day for lunch too! :) I tried some of the roasted chicken and it was so moist with a crispy skin crust that left me in wonder. I didn't try the sushi ordered, but all my friends that tried it said it was the best in STL that they've had, echoing what the bartender and the RFT said. I really liked Central Table but I didn't love it... but maybe I will just have to try the lunch menu or brunch ( still am on that quest for the best brunch in STL). After all I am eyeing that pulled pork torta sandwich. :)

I have gotten take-away food here a few times and it's always been decent; same for the coffee. The service, however, is laughable. Last weekend a friend of mine showed up early and was told by the host (Mario?) that she should sit outside because he "sat all the hot girls outside" and it really helped business. Completely unprofessional. To add insult, she asked to sit inside because it was chilly outside, and was still seated outside. I have no desire to give them any more of my money.

Soooo here's something you shouldn't do if you don't want to spend too much time and money at Central Table. Don't just order one dish at a time to be shared among 4 people at the table. You'll never get full. BUT - they have validated parking! The time and frustration you save makes it worth it! Marrow - Are we at the point where one can say "typical" marrow now? It was delicious either way. We even took the time to gnaw on some of the meat on the side. If they seasoned that a bit it would have been pretty amazing :) Octopus - one more tentacle and t would be worth the price... but I'll probably get it anywhere due to the fact that you're hard pressed to find non-sushi octopus dishes elsewhere except... Modesto? I don't remember it being very good over there. This was my 2nd favorite part of the meal because every single time I'm at a Tapas place I'm jonesing for some decent octopus. Mussels - These were just ok. To be honest, my favorite form of mussels is just some white wine and garlic, so anything beyond that is just superfluous to me. The sushi was pretty freaking awesome. The tuna, especially, seemed to have some... plum-iness to it, for lack of a better word. Didn't know how else to describe it. Oxtail Gratin - the star of the show. I don't think I've ever had oxtail meat that wasn't on the bone. In this case, it was sandwiched between Affogato - a good pick-me-up at the end of a good meal. Panna Cotta - this was #3 of my favorite items of the evening. I don't care what flavor they're offering you should try it out. The service was hit'n miss. This was one of those servers that happened to be around when you weren't looking for them and then when you were looking for them you couldn't find them. So in the end this is towards the top of the list of CWE dining now only because the food's pretty amazing, but also the validated parking will steer me over pretty easily.

Central Table is a pretty good meal, if you can afford it and if you'd be interested in eating there in the first place. It's a little bit rich for my blood, but of course I was just along for the ride. (It was my father's birthday.) Occupying the first floor of a shiny new building that spans the width of an entire city block, in the Central West End no less, Central Table must somehow be subsidized by BJC. Who would open such a large, bizarrely conceived restaurant, in this day and age? One part Benihana, one part Provisions and one part mall food court, Central Table is essentially a fancy cafeteria for the 1% who run those hospitals, who charge us way more -- for worse care -- than people in other countries pay. Apparently, they're investing at least some of that in restaurants. It's even got surprisingly cheap-looking tables and chairs arranged not unlike in a high school cafeteria. Do the cool kids sit in one area, and the nerds sit off to the side somewhere? That's a trick question -- they're all nerds. Presented with the option of a table or a booth, I chose a booth, as it wasn't as close to the areas where your food is prepared. I don't need to see a guy behind a glass sneeze guard putting together my meal, because I'm not eight years old. Alas, the way those booths are constructed, no man taller than about 5'9 could sit there without his knees grinding into the table's legs. Read into that what you will. We switched to a table where we had a pretty good view of the guys making the pizza, and one of them was clearly struggling with that movie where you toss the dough in the air to stretch it, thus defeating the whole purpose of having him out in the open. This was a Sunday night, and they weren't serving sushi, because they can't get fresh fish delivered on the weekends. I'm sure they had some there, and if they'd been willing to sell it to me for a steep discount, I would have gone for it, but I didn't want to ask. The dinner menu we were given consisted of several small plates (a known ripoff pioneered by Houlihans, based on tapas bars), a number of pizzas, and a very small handful of entrees, which they call large plates, available in your choice of steak, fish or chicken, bar mitzvah-style. And also manicotti. I had the chicken, my old man had the steak, and my mom and my little brother had the manicotti. Oh, and we also had caeser salad and fried oysters from the small plates menu and a side of fried fingerlings. The appetizers were killer. This may have been the only time in my life that I've had a caesar salad where you can taste the fish. It was a revelation. Would I pay $8 for essentially some lettuce and an egg ever again? Probably not, unless I strike it rich. The fried oysters were covered in caviar and some sort of Exxon Valdez black squid ink shit. They looked disgusting, but they tasted magnificent, as befitting their staus as deep fried food. Before the chicken showed up, I remarked to my old man that I was curious to see what $24 worth of chicken looks like. He replied that he could get just shy of five whole chickens from Sam's Club for that much. He did the math in his head. Turns out all you get is about half a chicken. It looks like a little bit less, because they've removed almost all of the bones for you, but I appreciated that, because it meant less work for me. Boneless chicken is where it's ass. So yeah, a chicken entree that came with a certain sexual favor would barely be worth $24, and this one didn't come with anything of the sort, cute as our waitress was. (The hostess was a certified dime piece. #MindtheGap) Aside from the price, it was incredible. It's a better roasted chicken than you could ever make at home, even if you followed the instructions to a t, tied the string around it and everything. If a girl made it for you, you'd wife that on GP, even if she didn't smell good. My mom and my little brother both enjoyed the manicotti, though my old man said the steak was just alright. It appeared to be perfectly cooked, but it was a weird presentation, with some sort of polenta and some tomatoes. I wouldn't order it on GP. Also, note that everything there is tiny, and if you don't want to leave upset you should probably load up on small plates and pizza. Resign yourself to the fact that you're about to drop a North St. Louis house note on your dinner and just go for it.

We went with 3 of us 2 weeks ago and we were not very impressed! It started off with our server not knowing the menu at all. We asked questions because we had never been here before! I ordered the chicken Caesar Salad...huge disappointment romaine was wilted and not crunchy dressing was bland so I ordered a cheese melt sandwich instead and it was very tasty with homemade chips but everyone was done eating at this point. One of the girls got their veggie sandwich and it was very oily she wasn't impressed. The two best things we ended up getting were the sushi and the hummus plate. Overall I wouldn't be coming back again anytime soon or even ever!

Four friends and I took our first trip to Central Table last Saturday night, and we were pleasantly surprised by the food and service. The restaurant itself is huge and feels very open, good for both small and large (10-15 people) group meals. Our waiter gave good advice and brought over delicious complimentary bruscetta while we decided on our meals. Between the five of us, our favorite dishes were the napoletana pizza, the tuscan kale salad, and the butternut squash ravioli with sage brown butter. The prosciutto and burrata dish tasted good but the portion size of burrata was very small. We didn't explore the sushi and dessert parts of the menu, but I've heard good things about both and will definitely plan another trip to Central Table!

Would not recommend. The menu sounds wonderful but they don't seem to be able to pull it off. The Brussel sprouts were not edible, salted to the point of hurting my mouth; the mussels were not cooked long enough to open the majority of the shells; the polenta was bland. The waitress was pushing for us to order and when I said we were in no hurry, she then ignored us. It was early (5:30) and the place had three other tables occupied. It is a huge place so I was not thrilled when the group of 8 was seated at the table right next to us instead of one of the other large tables available a few tables away. I know there are stations and "rules" but really? The prices were reasonable for the offerings...if they had been fit to eat.

Brunch as they call it was overated, overpriced and lacking in taste. The mediterrean was bland and if i wanted bland i would have just went back to Jax in Benton Park.

Without question, the best Happy Hour in the CWE (or any place I've ever been). $3 wine, beer, martinis, and half off most appetizers. Really great variety of food and beer is offered, so anyone would enjoy it. You could probably do Dinner for 2 with 2 drinks each for less than $30.

Central Table is the perfect splurge special occasion restaurant that commands your attention. M and I took full advantage of a nice evening by sitting in one of the outdoor tables along the sidewalk. Our server was sweet. Not pushy, didn't loiter, but available if needed. They have a decent selection of local beers and a long wine list. Each table receives a complimentary small piece of bread per person with a tomato garnish on top. Delicious. Give me more! For dinner I enjoyed the caesar salad (one of the best I have ever had) and M enjoyed spicy tuna sushi. We then split the gooseberry lamb pizza. The gooseberries made the pizza quite sweet and there was abundant little bits of lamb throughout. It was quite an interesting pizza. If you have a sweet tooth like me, order that. In conclusion, a very yummy meal. The prices are not cheap. However, the cravable things I feasted on were well worth the cash.

Not going to lie, when Central Table opened months ago I just was not interested in going. Wood fired pizza, sushi, coffee bar...yawn. I want something new and exciting! Granted, the venue and concept is unique to STL but still something was not clicking with the concept (yes, i made all these assumptions without even going). Some friends of mine, however, really like the place so...i finally caved and went and i've been three times now. Twice for dinner. Once i had pizza. It was good, but I was not crazy about it. To be fair though, Neapolitan style pie is just not my fav. It was good, just not great. Enter, the sushi. I think this might be my fav in STL! The salmon was melt in your mouth good. BRAVO! I think about it at least once a day...i really wish that was an exaggeration. On Sunday i ventured back over for brunch and was very impressed. The menu is small, but varied. Everything from raw oysters to chicken fried chicken with biscuits. I had the pleasure of trying several menu items and they were all fantastic. Granted, the food is a bit pricey - but the execution was perfect and the food was beautiful and tasty. The highlight was probably the corn fritters which were basically fried corn filled donuts with powered sugar and crunchy fried chorizo bits sprinkled on top. It was served with Maple syrup for dipping. It was decadent! My only complaint was that this dish really would be better served on an appetizer menu. I know its brunch, but this dish really does not make for meal and would be best shared with the table. Mimosas were delicious with (i believe) fresh squeezed juice. I went with the grapefruit and it was quite tasty! Anyway, give Central Table a try if you are looking for sushi. Also, mix it into your brunch rotation, when we were there - the place was almost empty. Hopefully brunch catches on, but go before it has a chance to do so and there is a wait on Sundays!

I came here for brunch on Sunday. We ordered the french toast and breakfast pizza. I definitely DEFINITELY promote the breakfast pizza! Everrything about it was just delicious. Lots of flavor and everything just complements everything else so perfectly. The french toast, on the other hand, I would not order again. The texture was ok but there was a definite lack of flavor. I could have made something better at home. But this is such a cool place and I love the layout of the restaurant. And the delicious breakfast pizza definitely makes up for the dull and bland french toast! Would definitely return!

Whew! Meal #2 turned out to be the oh-so-hoped for improvement. Now, the food quality matches the service and decor. My friend, A, and I like to share, so we ordered a cheese pizza and a Farmhouse (beets 'n goat cheese) salad. The "pizza lunch" was two very large wedges of bready (in a good way) za with a little side salad. The Farmhouse salad was an overside plate of multi-color beets, greens, goat cheese in a light vinaigrette. Super yummy salad, although I think a little more goat cheese would have added a better tangy contrast to the beets and greens. Several people checked on us at various stages of the ordering and the meal. They are determined to get things right....and it's working. Next time, I think I'm going to try the steamed buns. They looked interesting.

Great welcoming arrival. Focaccia bread w tomatoes & parm upon seating. Water tasted good. Bread salad. 3/5. Good but vinegarette was too much n Oysters. Delish! Tempura. Average. Cesar salad. Good could have more dressing. Margarita pizza. "Lot better than the norm" Skate. Perfectly cooked. Nice crispy outside. Nicely paired. Delicious. A little salty 4/5 Salmon. "Wonderful. So tender & fresh" Octopus. "Delicious. It's a consistently tasteful dish" Great service. Child friendly. Will be back!

I used to love coming here for a quick lunch during the week, but after a very unpleasant experience on January 3 due to table service-only taking over a vast majority of the room, and the option of self-service at the individual restaurants being taken away, I will no longer be a frequent customer. It took ages for people to even place an order since there is now just one line if you're not doing table service. There were also very few places to sit, and management was very condescending when confronted with the issue. Table service makes sense for dinner, but the novelty of lunch at Central Table for seven months has been that it's quick and reasonably priced, which is now no longer. I'll come back when they return to that, but no sooner.

Went opening night on Thursday. As other reviewers have said the space and design is amazing. There is a WIDE variety of food to choose from. I was a bit confused by all the choices... Pizza and sushi oh and bone marrow and octopus. They were out of pizza on this night but we did try the bone marrow and octopus and sushi. The bone marrow: sadly this was runny and not much marrow. Wanted to love but I have not found good bone marrow in STL yet. Octopus: was so excited to see this on the menu. Again, as stated by another reviewer this was way over cooked! Looked like an amazing piece but just too stiff wish it was prepared differently. Sushi: had the papasan and it was tasty. The smoked salmon was super tasty. The eel not so much and the yellow tail could have been better. Shrimp cocktail: 3$ each, come with heads on and beautiful presentation. Great home made cocktail sauce. Pâté: the chicken liver pâté was smooth at tasted very good. Service was great and the manager came by twice and comped us deserts. Feel I need to go back and try some more items.

Tonight was not my first visit and will not be my last. I had three people with me who were first time diners and none of us were disappointed. Each one of us ordered something different and the pastas and meat dishes did not disappoint. The lamb shank was tender, the beef short rib was unctuous and the pastas were amazing. The chocolate bread pudding was a great ending to the meal. KUDDOS.

What can you say about a place that has the best pizza and sushi in St Louis? Heaven for me is a salmon roll, the pepperoni pizza and an affogato afterwards. Back in the summer we were sitting outside and this nice busboy knocked a bottle of red wine all over my Louis Vuitton purse and all hell broke lose. Not from me, I was expecting this to happen eventually but seriously everyone went nuts and they offered to replace my bag (I did not make them do that, it was just a stain on the bottom), they comped the meal and every week we went back for about two months, we got a glass of champagne when we sat down, I mean the place has been just amazing and accommodating and so friendly every visit. Brunch here is AMAZING. One thing to do before you come here and you are craving the Uni (sea urchin) call and make sure they have it, you will not be disappointed.

I sat at the bar and tried the cheese, salumi, sushi, and pizza and all were great! If I go back, I will probably stick to ordering the pizza & get a cheese app. My favorite memory from my dining experience was the awesome bartender who told me all about how Central Table makes their cheeses in house and how they designed the menu to be fancy but still appeal to St. Louis style food (veal with frank's hot sauce). The atmosphere is fun and it looks like a great place to have a Birthday or private event. I look forward to going back and trying it again.

Review about service and private party experience (not food - since we didn't make it that far). While trying to plan a dinner in CWE for 23 people, I immediately thought of this restaurant - large dining tables AND a separate/private space that easily holds 23 guests. While it costs money to rent the room ($250) we said "Not a problem!" and then we were told that we couldn't do it at dinner time "maybeeeee we could get you in at 5:30 or 6:00" and that we couldn't order "popular dishes" because they were reserved for other guests. They were so unwilling to accommodate us, it was impressive. The person on the phone literally told us "it's more important to impress a variety of customers rather than one large group" But to me, a customer willing to pay $250 extra just to be there, I'm not sure why 23 of my friends ordering food is less important than 23 random people ordering food. What a joke. Many other restaurants in the area were more than happy to have our group. And we were happy to go elsewhere.

I came here for lunch a few weeks after they opened. The lunch cried was slow and we chose to sit at the bar for full service. The atmosphere feels like an upscale cafeteria which is neat. The bartender was attentive and helpful with making decisions. They have so much to choose from! It's a little pricey but you pay for what you get. I'll be back for sure and maybe for dinner next time.

Working and living nearby, I've dropped by a few times out of convenience, but have never been impressed. They may have many options for lunch, brunch, and dinner, but nothing is done all that well. The pasta, sushi, and omelettes are all pretty bland. The atmosphere which seems like a mix of a very upscale cafeteria and casual fine dining also seems a bit off. I feel like they should follow Gordon Ramsay's Kitchen Nightmares advice and simplify. Do one thing very well first before trying to be an everything restaurant.

I am definitely a fan of this place, I came here for dinner for their soft opening/training dinner event. And I really want this place to work out! Very interesting set up, it's casual but also sophisticated at the same time. I really liked the unique feel of the place and with a small market place and an area to get coffee, this place I hope will be a hit. Of course with any newly opened places, most of the workers are getting in their practice. After we were done with their complimentary focaccia bread, one of the waiters came by to replace our plates, unfortunately we weren't planning to use them anymore. They would have saved time just taking it away when our entrees came, instead of taking it away and replacing them. This increases the amount of dishes they have to do! I liked how everyone was really consistent with keeping everyone's glasses filled, sometimes even filling it twice. I ended up getting the Scottish Salmon and Strawberry Soup while trying my friends' dishes of either Skirt Steak, NY steak, Kamikazi, Freshy and Papasan. Papasan was SUPER good, great smokey creamy flavor. I also liked the Freshy, it was an interesting concept for a roll, instead of using rice or seaweed they used cucumber to wrap the sushi, which made it live up to its name, it was fresh and refreshing. I liked my Scottish Salmon but not as much as the sushi. I really enjoyed their sushi though, it looked as good as it tasted. I wish I got a picture of it before all of us dug in because it was delish! I would definitely come back for the sushi, DEFINITELY. Their strawberry soup was an interesting concept and it reminded me of a strawberry smoothie without the ice, I enjoyed it nonetheless. The flower petals in it was interesting, and also brought about a really different concept plus floral taste to it. I'm not sure if I was supposed to eat it.... but it really complimented the sweetness really well. Give me more! Overall I can't wait until their grand opening so I can try their lunch menu and browse/shop their little market. I think this place has potential and I wouldn't mind coming back. I thought they had some interesting special sushi rolls to provide which were delicious (not sure if I mentioned that yet) they err on the pricier side, but they were pretty filling. In terms of service there is some work, such as working out the issues with bread plates being replaced after we finished. And work on pouring techniques, the cups have low sides which maximizes the chances water will splash over the sides if poured from a higher height. Being careful of not reaching across another diner's plates while they're eating to refill waters etc. Other than that, I sure hope they work out and I would love coming back again.

Been there twice for dinner - once with the family, once with work mates. In the spirit of "if you don't have anything positive to say then don't say it" (it's almost Christmas, after all, and even a Jewish fish has to respect the local waters), I'll mention that the beer was very good. Pizza was pretty decent. The appetizers were basically ok. But, all told, I must have tried 4 different main dishes plus the sushi and..... God, rest ye merry gentlemen....and a Merry Christmas to all....

Bone marrow heaven! The vibe, atmosphere, layout, concept are all brilliant. I was there with a rather large crowd of foodies and we tasted nearly everything on the menu. A few of my faves were the bone marrow, octopus, and coddlefish small plates. My entree was the scallop dish and it was such a small looking portion, but left me completely full and satisfied. The pizzas were great - thin, great texture, fresh ingredients. For a Chicagoan, I must say this isn't the type of pizza I am used to but I could definitely get used to it. I didn't have a chance to check out the large wine list, but everyone else seemed to be really enjoying the selections and expertise of our server. The open kitchen creates a really unique dining experience and the gourmet shop/deli are a fabulous touch.

I travel to St. Louis a few times a year and have always enjoyed Central Table. Until tonight. I brought some business colleagues and we had a VERY mediocre meal. The plating was amateurish. The cheese plate was dull and the waiter didn't know what kind of cheese we were eating. I swear one of the cheeses was grocery store cheddar - bright orange and all. After I got back to my hotel I called to ask if there were new owners or a new chef because my experience was so lack-luster, and sure enough, I'm told there is a new chef. It's too bad. What once was an anticipated enjoyment of my St Louis visits is now just another ho-hum restaurant. I'm afraid one of my favorite St. Louis haunts will be haunted no longer - by me.

Decided to try this new place in the CWE for lunch. I didn't go into it having much expectations, but was pleasantly surprised. The place is kind of like an upsalce food court -- there are several areas with different food. They've got pizza, salads, sandwiches, a wine bar and sushi bar. I decided to go with a panini -- tomato, pesto , tomatoes and smoked gouda -- and was fantastic. It came with your choice of salad -- I went with the fruit salad. The meal was a little pricey ($9), but not terrible, and all the ingredients were really good quality. This place is awesome because of the atmosphere. It's all open, very modern. It turns into a full-service restaurant for dinner, and will go back to see how that is. Pros: chic atmosphere, quality ingredients Cons: don't serve lunch after 2

Came here last Saturday night with friends to engage in the CTFH expurrrience. Overall, the food was fantabulous. The service, however, was just alright. The dishes like the bone marrow and sushi were delicious. The lamb pizza? Oh...My...God so good. The drinks? Fantastic too. I have to admit that when I looked at CTFH on Yelp, it was only 3.5 stars. I had to wonder why. After our experience, I think I get it. I can honestly tell you that the food was amazing. The service, however, was the issue. That's the only thing keeping my review from getting that fifth star. The service we experienced was just...meh. It could have been much better. I mean, a little personality, a little engagement maybe, that would have been what we needed. We certainly enjoyed ourselves, but it would have been over the top with better service. The bottom line -- will we be back? Absolutely. Next time, we're getting our lunch on...

It's not like St. Louis is a huge city. It's the 21st biggest in the US, technically. But it's definitely big enough to have people come in from small towns and look at some of the stuff we have with wonder. I know you notice these people when they walk in someplace you've been before. They're wide eyed. Out of place. Looking for someone to point them in the right direction. It's cute. At least if you go to Open Table for the first time, you better think it's cute. Because there is a LOT of stuff going on in this place. A pizza hearth. A sushi bar. A drinking bar. A coffee bar. A small grocery. Food cases with take-home. And a couple of things I'm not sure of, but things are going on at... Here's what you need to know: 1) It's on South Euclid right across the street from Tom's Bar & Grill (don't act like you haven't been there before). You can park on the street, get valet in front or park in the garage a block away on Euclid and get validated. 2) This place is different for lunch than it is for dinner. For Lunch, you can order at the food stations and sit at a table. For dinner, you'll have the full waitstaff. You'll still have a waiter for lunch, but it will be mostly for drinks and table clearing. 3) If this is your first time there, you're probably going to be a bit confused with the flow. Especially at lunch. It's a pretty large space, almost like a mini-food court in the mall... but with much better food. So when you decide what kind of food you want, step up to that station and order. For dinner, you'll be seated at the bar or table and it's a much more traditional dining experience. 4) Things that have been ate personally or by people I was around that were good include the Diaovlo Pizza, Tuna Roll and Chicken Spiedie. All were rated "yeah, that was pretty good". 5) When you're done eating, you can visit the store or any of the stations again. It might take a visit or two to get comfortable. But once you realize that everyone else is sort of confused along with you, it's a much more enjoyable experience. Only can give it 3 stars, since the food was good, but not outstanding, at least in my opinion. But a the space is really well done and it's got lots of room in case you need a pretty nice place that won't be totally packed on the weekend.

I am a fan of the location and the space itself, and I think this will be quite a successful venture. The restaurant is HUGE. There's normal restaurant seating, a central sushi bar, a pizza area, the market area, a coffee/treats area. They did an excellent job with decorating the space. It's modern, but not barren. Service: Our server was very nice, and he seemed to know the menu well enough, but I think he will definitely need to pick up the pace if he's going to accommodate the crowds that will ensue. One of the bus-boys tried to whisk away an appetizer we had only half consumed...you cannot take food from hungry people. We get crabby. They're working out some weird defect in their credit card system currently, so hopefully it will be up and running by the official opening day. The important stuff, FOOD: 1. Beef Tartare $9- delicious! But, you can see from the photo that the portion amounts to 4 bites. I feel like the chef was shooting for deconstructed/artsy, but I just wanted some tasty food. I don't think it would look any worse with a simpler presentation. I guess you get to play with your food when it's it pieces. 2. Sweetbreads $12- 6 nicely fried nuggets of sweetbreads. Let's call these really expensive hot wings, because the buffalo sauce masks the appreciation of the actual thymus. Ok fine, maybe frying the stuff masks the flavor, but it was pretty good. 3. Striped Bass $19- The food runner who brought the dish called it "salmon." It was, in fact, the dish I ordered and the smoked carrot broth nicely complemented the well-cooked bass. 4. Skirt Steak $17- cooked appropriately, very good salsa verde and kale to accompany, looks as if they have cleaned up the presentation . Yes, the meat is pre-sliced on the plate. If you're going to slice the meat, you should go ahead and slice out the gristle while you're at it. It's not appetizing. I'll be roaming in here when the market opens to pick up snacks. I hope they continue to work on their service and ticket times. It's going to get busy!

Very confusing. I've been coming here for months since I work at the hospital and every time something has changed. Today I came in and the urns of water out in the middle of the restaurant were gone. I asked the cashier when I ordered food if I could get some water and he said they don't give out free water. We asked a waiter walking by and he said because we were not seated in the "restaurant" area we couldn't get any water, even a small cup. Finally, the generous bartender took pity on us and gave us waters. On this same day the coffee shop area looked like a wasteland (I assume Kaldis pulled out) and the large menu signs were gone. This place needs to figure out what they are doing. Every day something else has changed, and never for the better.
